THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE
July 28, 1996 I started another day as I always did scheming, trying to get one more. Damn it’s hot! Well let me go over to my cousins, he’s doing quite well slinging cocaine, if he is feeling good he will buy me a bag. Sitting on the porch smoking weed and drinking beer, I don’t usually do this but it it’s what I have to do to get one then why not. Feeling real woozy about now, someone shouts out T.N.T., the Tactical Narcotics Team is cruising the block, they have just busted cousin the night before. No way they are coming again tonight. As I stand up to leave, a sudden light-headed feeling comes over me. When I awake I am in the cell in the Police Dept. Here I go again, possessions of C.D.S. (Controlled Dangerous Substance) and Parole Violation. When I am booked in the County jail for the tenth time in the last 26-year the door slams and the tears flow from my eyes. I get on my knees and cry out “God please help me!!!. I can’t do it no more, help me God”.
That night was a spiritual awakening, I promised the God of my understanding that whatever he wants me to do I will do and I promise this is the last time. In the beginning it was all fun but now this bottom was the end of the road. Now four years later I am still clean. When I got out January 15, 1998 I made my first NA meeting on the outside. There were people their that I knew from active addiction that were clean and looking good. Then I knew I was in the right place. I liked what I saw and heard. I kept coming, I couldn’t get enough. Finally I was meeting people that care about me, not for what I had or didn’t have, just loving caring addicts like myself. So if your wondering if it can work for you take it from me NA can make the impossible, possible. I’m the proof it works.
